Free Plans Websites

Lately I have been finding myself collecting plans, buying and borrowing, to a point of it almost being a 2nd addiction!

I have found quite a few free plans on the net and some of them have been very good. Figured we could start a thread here and swap some sites others may have found with free plan downloads.

I'll start with the site I found today, has some very cool plans, especially like the plan for the Seamaster, showing all formers! Also has a cool set of 40 sized float plans!

Airplane Model Plans

The popups are annoying but a nice collection of down-loadable plans.

Well,,,,,you are right about the pop ups!! Lots of variety though....

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you will have to catch up.

plan site

There use to be a site: StarCad Plans

I know the site was moved. I haven't looked in a while, so can't tell you the link right now. It was a good site.

When I click on a plan, my computer tries to open it using Windows media player. As far as I know, I never asked it to do this. Anyone know why and how I can fix this thing?

It is probably a file type association. In Explorer, you can go View, Folder Options, File Types and see what is listed for the appropriate file extension.
I never crash...I land with style!

That is an annoying "feature" of M$ software known as file associations.

The easiest way to reset is to use explorer, select a file, choose "Open with" select the program you would like to use and click the "always use this program to open these files".

Hope this helps.

I found what I consider a gold mind for me in the Great Plans web site.
Just down load the manual you want and most of them contain full layout of parts and a 3 view drawing. I'm building the cap 232 and converted the parts layout into cad and cut the parts out with my cnc machine. So far I've but together some of the fuse and it seems to go together fairly well.

Check it out at

Did I just hit that tree?
