I don't know about the 40 size bipe, but I can relate to being afraid or nervous to fly a plane. By the time I had my DP Ultimate (the large one) ready to fly, I was extremely nervous. I hadn't flown anything that big before or started a Saito 1.50.

I am now comfortable starting the engine after getting a lot of pointers from other members. As for the plane, I am still a bit nervous, but I plane to take it easy for the first year (about 10 flights before the cold snap). Flying it is okay, but the landing is nerve racking. You can't crash while in the sky.

Take is slow and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Bipe are great fun.

Why not post a picture of it?
I never crash...I land with style!

I test flew a G.P. Ultimate for a guy last year up at my friends farm. It had skis fitted because we still had lots of snow. I didn't find it too snappy but it was a little more twitchy than my Goldberg Ultimate, probably because it is a little smaller and it was also extremely windy that day with 30 km/h + winds so it was hard to get a good feel for the plane. Overall I didn't find it that much of a handfull to fly, mind you I have been flying a Goldberg Ultimate since they first came out so it probably helped a whole lot. I do remember enjoying it enough to think of getting one as it is smaller and takes up less room in the van! Any excuse to buy another kit!

As for the throws, again if I remember correctly, they were set up as the manual suggests for high rates and low rates.

Taken from the great planes website:
3/16" Low
Rudder- 1 1/4" High and low

Again because it is a bipe (more drag 2wings....) it will glide somewhat like a "brick" powered off but it is manageable. Just take your time with and build up that confidence level and it will all be much easier......
