Have to agree with Andrew, Again , go for the extra power with proper throttle management you can swing the bigger prop (More Scale Like) at a lower RPM (More Scale Like) getting a more realistic sound!

And the big one is a safety factor of power when needed, just remember not to hammer on the power when you need it, ease it in.

It can surprise you how fast these airplanes can torque over.

It appears from all sources, except my one modeller friend, that the extra power is the best way to go. It may not seem scale at first when one seems to use too much power, but if you work at it, you can make it look like the full size, and still have that extra power whne needed. Thanks to all, I think I'll go with the 450. Now the matter of money,

It's a lot of money but I won't be doing this every year.

Re: Giant Scale Harvard

Six years after these posts, the Harvard is still being worked on, but at least it has flown! I have a bout 20 flights on it, and about 5 repair jobs! The weight is 33 pounds, and has a "Torch" 60 c.c engine, swinging a 22 inch propeller. I am going t try a 24 X 8 this summer.

The elevetor had about 15 degrees up throw, and I increased that to 30 degrees this winter. I was always rushing to get it ready for a fun fly, and it never happened. the pilot wasn't ready either. I now have a bout 45 degrees flaps available, and have yet t try those. I expect this summer will see a better aircraft and pilot. Hopefully, better enough to survive at least one year without a major mishap. Time will tell.

Anybody out there with a 1/5th scale harvard?
