Does anyone have any experience with this engine or know of someone who does? I am really considering this engine for a 127" Decathalon. : : : Thanks.

Hi Terry...I seen the 86 twin at Dayton . If your looking for a reliable robust engine that will prob never wear out I think it would be a good choice .I havn't seen one run but they look well built to say the least . If your looking for raw horse power though ,I think you would have to move up to one the many 100 twins out there ( 3W,DA,BME,BRISON) . I also know Bme ,ZDZ,3w and Brison make a 80 twin that are way lighter and have electronic igntion which helps greatly in starting .They are comparable in price to the fuji to .Check them out to before you decide to buy

Just my 2 cents
Kevin

Fuji are reliable industrial conversion engines but are somewhat heavy by todays standards. They use a magneto ignition I think, which can mean harder starting and lumpy idle due to no ignition advance. They list a spring starter as an option but it is another $us 81......
Id look at the ZDZ twin 80cc,which is much lighter, designed for purpose, much more powerful and comes with a proper electronic ignition with timing advance, and is very close in price to the fuji.RCS who market it have the best record of customer service of all distributors bar none......

Kevin,
Allthough I wouldnt buy one myself, I am sure the Fuji engines have some sort of auto advace for the spark, as it says so in their ads. I think the money is better spent on a ZDZ, BRison, Fox, etc. myself.

Bob.....Tower sell the fuji for us$800 freight payed(If you are in their no.1 club) to any point in the US.You would convert to $C and add the filthy taxes of 15% in Ontario.....total around $1450Can.......It comes with a couple of can mufflers but other options like the spring starter are extra. You would have to add freight to ship to Canada, which is not a consideration here in the Soo......Great Hobbies list it at $C1300.00 plus freight and GST,which might be the better way to go if they have it in stock.

Terry,

I just got a 3w85 twin, beauty!
I think if you look at the specs you will find that the 3w is a bit smaller all the way around, it is about the same price and it will crank over a 26x12.
Got mine from Cactus Aviation, Bobby is a good guy to deal with.

There now my pennies are thrown in too.

Hi Terry.

I too had been seriously considering the Fuji BT86 Twin. I have a Hanger 9 Sukhoi and they recommend the Zenoah 80 twin. Since the Fuji has more horsepower and is lighter it was a serious consideration (also the same price at Great Hobbies) as the Zenoah.
For the type of plane (and the type of flying you are doing with a Decathalon), it looks like a great combination. Remember you have to consider the extra cost of mufflers and ignition battery if you are considering a Da, 3W ZDZ etc. The Fuji has mufflers and ignitioin (magneto) included.

Due to the type of flying I want to do (3D, IMAC etc) I am opting to go with the lighter higher HP rated engines like the ZDZ.

Please let me know if you get this engine and how it goes... Peter

Peter, the Decathlon is almost done and should fly this summer. I decided on more power also so I went with the BME 105.
