05 motor comparable to what?

Hi guys. Back after a long hiatus.
Here is my conundrum:
Some time ago (years), I bought an 05 can motor and a tippy-top-of-the-line Futaba motor controller. After some failed experiments in converting a Sophisticated Lady into a "pusher" motor glider (long story, that one), I stuffed my electric gear into a coffee can and put it on the top shelf of my shop.
NOW, I wonder if this little motor will fill in where I currently need it: I'll soon be making one of those little 1/12 scale combat planes and want to electrify it. The Pica kit specifies .10 (doubtful) to .21 size glow.
So, will this 05 motor do it? What is it comparable to, an .049 or the like?
Thanks for your help,

Hi Joe:
There are lots of 05 size motors on the market, which one do you have? The basic 05 motor will work with the right combination of prop, battery pack
lightweight flight pack and your ability to build the model light but strong.
I built the large (.21) size House of Balsa P-51 a few years ago and it flew great on a stock 05 motor.
Specs: Stock Goldberg thrustmaster 05
Aileron, throttle and elevator using the smallest servos Futaba made.
6 cell "Car" pack (Heavy!) 7 CP1700 cells would be a lot better
Lightweight receiver and SC
8-4 nylon prop (gave me 8400 RPM on a full charge)
No landing gear
No drastic mods to lighten it, covered with Solarfilm.

So as far as knowing exactly what gas motor to compare it to? If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. There's no stamping or identifiers on this motor, but the prop size I was using was a pusher of similar specs to the one on your P-51 (no RPM numbers available, though). I was rumming it with a car pack too, but I've got my hands on some lithium-polymer 5700 MAh cells now, and they weigh about the same as, if not somewhat less than, the car pack. I imagine I'll have to get a read on amperage draw from the Ni-Cds before risking an over-draw on the li-polys. The MAN article was timely for me, as now I know not to exceed 2-5 times capacity on the draw (still ample at 11 to 25 amps).
Thanks again for the imput, sorry for rambling.

Ha ha, "rumming" it! Should be running it, of course.
