I read on another site about smoke fluid and there where a couple.
1: 40/40 kerosine&diesel,& 20 tranny fluid 2: 50/50 with kerosine & the liquid they use on cement forming.(I can't remember the name of the fluid) I was going to try the first one on my 45 homey to see how it works. Just have to put a fitting and a few essentials in it. John |

Hey Steve, great looking project and so nice to see in the air! Are you the same Steve D. I used to compete in pattern with back in the UGLY meet days?

Thanks Lee its been a rewarding experiance. You might be thinking of Steve Dew from back in the pattern days ala 70's early 80's.I flew a bit in the 70's but not pattern. Also we still have the UGLY meet (its a funfly these days) the 3rd weekend in May.although I think that may change because the weathers been lousy that time of year....Steve Daly MAAC 14007

Steve
Yes it was Steve Dew who I competed with (against?). That meet was a regular on my wife's "first tan of the year" fix, but the weather at that time of year has gotten worse and worser
Still a lot of good memories as Craig Knight will attest! Wonder what happened to Steve Dew? He was a great guy and a hell of a good pilot. |

Steve,
When I want some serious smoke and since I'm no harry potter (chemist), I use lamp oil with paraffin, great white dense smoke and no mixing this with that, It's cheap stuff too. give ity a try. Also there is no warm up period. with a saito 91. I half full smoke by the time I taxi to the flight line Dave |

Smokin'
Speaking of coloured smoke, does anyone know how to get smoke in different colours? I have seen the Italian Airshow team "Flecce Tricolore" Sp? with green, red and white smoke, and I think there is blue too, but I haven't heard of anyone doing the coloured thing with models.
Of course the Italian team also had flame orange in their show but it wasn't part of their routine :P ( I know I'll get flamed on that one!!) Lee |

Lee, there have been guys in the jets forum on RCU talking about the coloured smoke fluids - they are very very messy and dangerous. Do a search there for more info, but I dont think they are too practical for our models - yet.
