I was just up there a few days ago, and I remember quite a few places just outside of town for slope; anyplace where the seagulls are sloping will work fine. I did notice that there was little wind the whole time I was there, not a good circumstance. However, I've also seen the treetops touching the ground in that area...

I would also check out the MAAC site to see if there are clubs in Comox or Courtenay. I figger that there is a fair amount of r/c activity in there, as many of the displays at the Comox air museum are ex-r/c models, probably built by people on the base.

Sloping just ain't that difficult once you learn to keep the nose pointed out over the slope for the most part. Any manoevers are done with the mnd of how quickly you can get that nose pointed the right way again. The GL is an excellent trainer for the slope, BTW.
