Amen to that.

Got in five great flights on Sunday, and two more on Monday. Was going for the third flight, but noticed that the engine seemed to be vibrating more than it should. Shut it down to check it out, and sure enough, it was just a wee bit loose. In fact, after opening the hatch, I found one of the bolts in the tail! Decided against doing a field repair as the bolts are a bugger to get at, they are threaded into the engine from the inside of the firewall, and I have to move the receiver, battery and fuel tank to get at them. Last night, I remove each one in turn, put on some loctite and got 'em as tight as I could.

I also found that the 21 oz. of lead that I'd added just behind the engine had reduced itself to 16 oz. Some of the lead pieces had worked loose and fallen off. So I took another look at things and have decided to try and mount the receiver battery right behind the firewall (it was on top of the landing gear.) At the same time, I'm going to add the smoke pump battery, even though I'm not ready to install the rest of the smoke system yet. Doing that means that I only have to add about 6 oz. of lead to get the CG in the right place.

Ah, the fun of working out the kinks in a new plane.

Glad I'm not the only one, I start getting suspicious if I get a dozen flights on a new plane and something hasn't needed attention....
