Sheet lead used to readily available although I don't know their historical uses.
I inherited some scraps of 1/8" thick sheet lead and it's easy to work with; regular metal shears readily cuts into whatever shapes you need to fasten to the underside of a fuselage tail or to an engine firewall.

Check out your local metal recycler; you never know:

I use Cerrobend or Wood's Metal that has about the same density as lead but will melt at 158 F or 70 C. It melts in boiling water. I create an opening where weight is needed and using a match can melt drops into the area then cover it with 5 min epoxy and have never had one work loose. Same goes for balancing laterally I add to the wing tip and epoxy in place.
