New shelter

Thought some of you might be interested in this. A couple of weekends ago, we had our annual field work day. One of the major tasks was installing our new shelter. The pic below was taken the next day. As you can see, it is quite large, and provides plenty of shade and room. You can see our old shelter behind it.

It got well used this past weekend, as the temps reached the upper 20's. So far, everyone that has seen it has praised it.

It is not a permanent structure, but would take the better part of a day to dismantle. It is well anchored and is meant to be left up year round. The manufacturer is a Canadian company, and they have designed it with Canadian weather (particularly winter) in mind.

More details on the shelter can be found in our April newsletter, at:

Personally, I consider it one of the best investments our club has made since the runway was built.

If that was at our field it would be lucky to last the weekend.

About once a month we have 'people' tear down our wind sock, fencing and metal box we have for our sound meter, fire extinguisher and first aid kit!

Not to mention burning our picnic tables, garbage container and knocking over the porta potty.

Some 'people' have nothing better to do I guess.

Looks gr8, no club should be without one.
We at the Flying Tigers, have a sort-of perm. shelter also. (10X20.)
We also put up a 10x20 canopy in the spectator area for the summer months.

Our Shelter pictured below.....picture is a couple of years old now......

Also check out our frequency control board....... This is new last year and works in conjuntion with our radio impound....
