Jet + Scale competition

Hi!

Being the new Scale Chariman for MAAC, I've taken on the responsibility for Team trials for F4C etc.....

I've had recommendations from several people that I shouldn't be concerned with accomodating jets.... this concerns me. Since anyone here would likely be in contact with the larger Jet enthusiast community, do you feel this is an accurate assesment... IOW, are Canadian Jet enthusiasts uninterested/unprepared in/for F4C?

Jets and Scale F4C

Hi Jim

I for one would say the statement is completely without basis. There are a number of Jet Fliyers who are doing/have done scale projects. The first one that comes to mind is Martin LeFeuvre(sic) in Quebec. He had a beautiful scale F-86 Sabre he competed with at the Jet World Masters a couple of years back. My partner Kevin is working on another F-16 and has another "skunk works" scale project on the go. Dean Wichmann has an F-16 and I believe a Eurofighter in the works. And another World Jet Masters Competitor just moved into your backyard last fall.

If you combine these talents, you might be able to put together an all jet team!

Just my .02 CDN(now worth .01US)

rcav8tr,

I don't want to speak for Jim Mc but I believe his question was more to do with are there any jet jocks participating in F4C Scale not just is anyone building Scale Jets?

That's ok Jim, you're bang on.

Having to provide a site for team trials that accomodates jets is a severely limiting requirement that I'm being told may be an unnecessary complexity.

The reason I'm asking is literally to verify what I'm being advised....

Personally, I think there is a lot of talent out there and would like to see these people competing but, if they're not going to, it would make my job significantly easier to know this.

Building versus Competing

Hi Jim and Jim

My interpretation was that you wanted to know 1) If people were building scale jets and 2) Would they be interested in competing?

That being said, what information are you being given about Scale Jets and their field requirements?

Sincerely,
Ed

first of all. Jim could you educate us morons on what the alaphbet soup means? I see it bandied about by people that are involved, but they never seem to take time to explain it.

A basic introduction to the different classifications would help newcomers determine possible future asperations.

For myself, I plan to do a turbine powered Vampire next winter. Field requirements for me would be the same as a prop plane. An unobstructed approach would be a bonus....

I have to agree on the alphabet soop!
All those letters and numbers to tell what class, and who the heck knows?
I4C myself entering the helicopter class with a 2 meter glider!

Maybe the MAAC mag could put a glossary somewhere that would tell what each class is? : :
