Hi Ian
I built a couple so far at work.I use very light wall tubing and dolly the end caps by hand, the mount from the engine I hog out on the mill then drill and tap.The most recent one I used a collar on the end of the expansion chamber with set screws and inserted a tube inside that my plan is to be able to tune the can for max rpm.The parts are all TIG welded together smothed and buffed to mirror finish.

To avoid making the mount peice DuBro sells an exhaust extension that looks like it would save a step. Also look in the spad sites they have some nifty ideas on useing household items to build pipes.
