I am looking to build a gas airboat. I have a 25cc converted weedeater motor that I would like to use to power it. Does anybody know of any plans out there or have any ideas on how to build or what size boat I would need. Thanks Jeff.

Re: Airboat plans

Love the airboat topic post!
Hope I can help. Id have to say from expirience with two FE airboats that your hull can not be so small as to not be stable in turning with different kinds of varriables at play, with a great wieght held several inches above the deck. The size of the hull you will need, I'm saying, is best to be proportional to the weight of all the material held above the deckline...and not proportional to power of the said motor.

Every hull will realise or surpass its scale capabilities with enough power, and up to that point the handling will be best with a proper weight/hull ratio. With the FE's, the batteries, the esc, servos even, receiver all go below the deck. Having a strong enough mount is a concern for gas because the heavier the engine tower the harder it is to keep attached in a crash...(haven't crashed mine yet)..too bulky a tower and it becomes a sail that works against you with a little wind.
