Jim:

The engine is mounted off-centre to compensate for right-thrust.
This allows you to centre the prop shaft in the cowl.

100% correct. This is a long engine, and if it is not offset, it will come out slightly over 1/2 inch off center of the cowl.

I did sell a few smaller planes actually to fund this project (3 in total)

Regards
Peter

Here are a few pics of my 34% Edge!

Had 10 flights on it so far, the one pic shows my engine builder Bob (the guy that finally talk me into a big plane )

The engine is 110cc swinging a 26X10 Metzjlek (sp?) Carbon Fibre Prop that I won at Randy's (Forest City Flyers) IMAC competition and a 26X10 MSC prop at just under 6000 rpm (the engine is picking up every flight though) the CF prop seems to have better bottom end grunt and teh MSC has more top end speed.

With both props I can get it down to a 1200 RPM idle, reliably.

Definitly having FUN with it though!

Nice plane, who's 34% is it?
Did you make the graphics yourself?
I checked Zivko's website and they had this scheme.
Check this picture out.

Good Lookin Plane.

Hay Peter thanks for the call and the information. Great looking colour scheme on the (little) Edge. Do you know how you are going to cover the new one yet ? Aerotech is planning to have a 42% Edge ready for me at the end of October. I can hardly wait. I feel like a kid at Christmas. Actually the kit is a Christmas present to me from my WONDERFUL Wife.

Hi Peter,

It's great to see your Edge coming along so well.

We must get together next summer, for sure.

Where do you plan to fly it?

Are considering doing any IMAC flying ?

Well Bob, I do want to fly with you for sure.
Not sure yet about IMAC flying but would certainly be interested to find out more about the requirements.
Re. flying, I am open to invitations.... seriously I have never been to the 400 club but maybe it is time to pay you guys a visit.

Peter,

IMAC is not as daughnting as it seems. Ask the seven newbies that flew their first contest this year! We are all here on RCC!

IMAC is divided into 4 classes; Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Unlimited. You can use any plane and I mean eny plane in the Basic class. Just ak me, I flew a GP PT-40 in it!

Now I knew it really wasn't the right aircraft for the job but that's all I had to fly and I wanted to compete so... What it turned out to be was a great two days in St. Thomas with a great bunch of guys and finding out that it is real fuN! Ask Gary Maker or ronm or Frank Klenk and all the rest. Bob Hudson and Randy Brown really made us new guys feel welcomed. And now there are 7 new competitors for next year.

I had so much fun that I have switched my winter projects this year to IMAC aircraft. Now I still enjoy building scale and that is what i am doing. Just now the subject a/c are aerobats and not heavy metal. For Intermediate and higher classes you must have a aircraft that represents or looks like a full scale a/c. No one gets their rulers and three-views out and starts deducting points because the stab is to big or small. You must have a pilot and an instrument panel though.

By the looks of your Edge you are covered.

Keep the progress reports coming. And come and get bit by the IMAC bug.. it only hurts your pocket book but then again what aspect of this fine hobby doesn't!
