Hey guys anyone noticed that Hobby king released a new 1300 3S 60C A-SPEC lipos. I have the 1800 and they are excellent, if you look at my tests I did they were almost better than Thunder Power so I have high hopes for these. They are $20.76 something US, also available in US warehouse, landed Canadian around $32 but considering Thunder power is $45US plus shipping this year, they are much cheaper. will get some for testing in the fall, I have too many right now of assorted batteries.

Re: Canadian source for 1300mAh 3S 45C and 75C LiPo

Very nice, thanks Dan!

At 119g, the weight is very good for a 1300mAh high C rating too:

I am still getting very good results with the Lion 1500mAh eBay Chinese batteries Alex found. Although they are shipped illegally which has it's moral issues (would you want to be on the passenger airplane with them in the hold?), they are very cheap, and the weight is good at 106g. I haven't been pushing them too hard, two climbs to less than 150m before recharging, but they are performing very well for me. I'm probably only pulling 42A max for 20 seconds or less. I'm not sure how they'd work for higher current requirements:

Hey Kevin, I have been using the Hyperion 1100 all season and they are good enough for 2 flights each even in competition, I get to 200m each time.
Killed one couple of weeks ago, forgot it on my discharger and it went to 0 Volts, ballooned up like a balloon. I do not walk away again or I turn it off.
Funny, I noticed your link said $23.07, when logged in I get $20.76 or $23.07 US Warehouse.

Re: Canadian source for 1300mAh 3S 45C and 75C LiPo

Yeah, the $23.07 is the non-member price that comes up at HK international if you aren't logged in. You get the $20.76 discount price for being a "member" when you log in, or if you leave the page open long enough to get the discount offer.

What are you using to discharge that takes it to 0 volts? All my cheap chargers have discharge functions that take the battery to 3.3V/cell (3.2V?, I hardly ever use that), or storage functions that take them to 3.7V/cell up or down, which I use after each day's flying. Of course the discharge rates aren't very high.

I use chargers, sometimes, but for quick and dirty method I use car 12v light bulb, 1.2A hooked up to my wattmeter to read voltage. Quick and effective, if you do not walk away and monitor it, no safeguards. I walked away this time. First time in 4 years, oh well.

I'm looking for lipos in Canada (oh boy) -- need 2s and so far none of the recommended vendors seem to offer any that small. Any leads?

Re: Canadian source for 1300mAh 3S 45C and 75C LiPo

HobbyKing of course has lots of 2S batteries in all capacities and C ratings, but you have to have a big enough order to justify the Fedex shipping cost from the US warehouse.

One other alternative would be the Lion brand batteries Alex found on eBay. I've got about 50 flights each on three of the 3S 1500s, and they work quite well especially for the price. They have 2S 1300 25C ones, less than $10US, free shipping until they get caught:

Aircraft World in Japan has a pretty good assortment of Hyperion batteries, including 2S in various C ratings and sizes. The courier shipping costs really needs a decent sized order to justify as well:

I bought small 2s batteries on eBay recently and shipping is still free. So it is only way to buy cheap for now. Sure aliexpress and ban good do same

Re: Canadian source for 1300mAh 3S 45C and 75C LiPo

There are some Canadian places with 2S batteries that can ship domestically by mail, depends what you need:

http://rcflightstore.com/index.php?cPath=29_161

(if that link doesn't work, search for 2S 7.4V power packs, they have hundreds listed)
