L10ll flys!

Hi Giys
Well, after two years of building, reinventing, procrastinating etc I finally took the PCM Models Air Canada L1011 up! She weighs about 32 lbs wet and is powered by a single JetCat P80. Control is via a JR PCM 10sx11 with 9 servos aboard digital and analog mix, two 2400 mah packs, 112 oz of fuel. The mains consist of 4 2 " Robarts per side / dual nose. Rather than rewriting the flight synopsis here if you are interested it is on the projects section in my website. We took one inflight photo but should have more soon. Give me a couple of days to get it all on the site. So, what do I think of it? It is certainly " heavy metal " meaing proper use of power and flaps is mandatory, neverrtheless it is a docile enough bird that any intermediate turbine jet modeler should have no trouble with. It is strickly a pavement bird as the tires offer a bit of resistance. In flight though, with the gear retracted it is hard to tell the difference from the real thing. I plan on flying it here on the west coast ( Princeton Jet Rally for sure ! ) but it is simply too big to haul around the country. Keep em lit Dean Wichmann www.helijet.ca |
