Thanks Jim, That looks like a really good setup. Last night when Andrew and I went to the field, I realized that I don't really need a steerable tail wheel. It seemed to turn very well (Maybe the enlarged rudder helped). If I do decide to put one on later, I will use this setup. I printed out copies of the pictures to keep with the instructions so I'll allways know where they are.

I just realised that on my PQHOR is also too have a fixed wire skid. I think because of my enlarged rudder it also makes ground handling easy, and I turn on grass as easy as with a steerable tailwheel.

I don't think you could do any harm by lengthening the DPS a bit. I built a knockoff of an Ultra Stick and gave it a few extra inches as well. There was a definite improvement in stability over the original. Only thing though is to make sure that you have enough landing gear, especially with the taildragger. Mine was a bit too short and with the longer tail, it was a fight to get the tail to rotate under on take off.

Uh ... that's gonna leave a mark!

Thanks Divit, I was thinking that it would make the plane a bit more stable. The plans show the complete setup for installing landing gear and just say to eliminate the gear and rudder setup for combat. There are so many unique designs of SPADS, rather than build two basically the same I think I am going to build the Debonair as my second SPAD. This model is already designed to be more of a trainer model and with at least three different people giving reports on the Debonair, I have many great suggestions to go by. Thanks to everyone again for your input!
