Have you done stalls and spins yet in your training?

Talk about losing your lunch. First time I did a spin I couldn't hold the yoke afterwards I was shaking so hard.

Great fun though after you know what to expect.

I love spins!

When I was learning to fly, one of the 4 instructors I had made the mistake of telling me he hated to do spins right after he told me we were going to do some. He told me to climb to altitude and do a max of 3 turns then pull out.

I climbed to 6,000 ft, did my clearing turn then I put the C-150 into the spin... 1 rev... 2 revs... 3 revs... 4 revs.. "Pull out Now"... 5 revs..."You bleep bleep bleep, pull out".... 6 revs... recovered at 2, 500 ft.!

What a hoot! To the instructors credit he did not like doing that many revs but he saw that I was in full control and did not try and wrestle control of the a/c from me!

As for a Faling Leaf it is kind of hard to explain.. the aircraft looses height rapidly but is at close to stall speed the whole time while banking form side to side, like a leaf falling. It is designed as an emergency procedure to bring the a/c down in one piece on a very very short field. In otherwords if you have no where else to land. The a/c is moving forward but only very slightly. When it was demonstrated to me, the instructor and I crossed the runway threshold at 1000 ft AGL and we touched down 300 ft from the threshold and he had the a/c stopped in under 50 ft of ground roll. Like I said ONLY used in extreme emrgencies! Chances are you would not have enough distance to take-off agai... just meant to save your life.!
