Makes no Sense

At Toledo I purchased an arf knowing full well the covering needed to be shrunk. I was told it was heat shrinkable and the instruction manual also says its shrinkable. Upon further inspection as of late I found the pigment is attached to the airframe (wings) but the protective plastic has delaminated and when you try and shrink it a mess results. definitely not a name brand covering.

Well the plastic just pealed off leaving the paint. I started to strip the pigment off and lo and behold the wing is very well built and sheeted with very thin ply. In fact its a very nice wing and both have no warps and fit absolutely perfect together. The ply is dead smooth and straight. The tail feathers are straight and well built. The fuse is very light weight fiberglass straight and smooth.

What in the world would possess a company to scrimp on of all things the covering after going to so much trouble to build like this. Don't they realise anyone would pay a few bucks more for a name brand covering.

Well Ultracoat matches the paint so that is what I will end up covering it with.

Me thinks Dennis is refering to his Giant Scale Airplanes 1/4 Boeing Peashooter.

Had a similar constructed airplane, a Ryan PT-20. Looked real good, fibre glasss fuse, built up wing etc. Crazy thing kept trying to turn around and hit the guy with transmitter. All in the space of a baseball diamond at 10ft altitude!! Too bad, nice lookin' plane too.

I remember you buying that Pea Shooter in Toledo. Thats a neat looking plane. The covering is a real shame I'd check to see if the cowl is sprayed with fuel proof paint. If they cheaped out on the covering they might of done the same with the paint....
