I've experimented with latex paints too.

I 'borrow' tole paints from the Missus' supply, lots os colours to choose from.

I mix it about 50-50 with water and spray it with an airbrush, you may need to play with the mix depending on brand, brush etc.

The spit I experimented on is glow powered so I used a purfect paint clearcoat to make it fuel proof.

I've been told some exterior brands of water based urethanes are fuel proof but I haven't found on that works.

Tip for latex, dry coats with a hair dryer (or heat gun on VERY LOW setting), sand between coats using brown paper (yes like a lunch bag). Use tack cloth too.

Hey Guys,
I'm just finishing up spraying a spad prop jet, and my TF P-40. both with C.I.L flat exterior latex house paint. I use good ole' blue automotive windshield washer fluild, and it will not tint the paint. I have tried the same paint in gloss format but it is more finiky to spray thru my badger 150. The flat paint sprays amazing. Inbetween coats I used my heat gun to dry the paint. I just picked up the paint to do my PICA WACO. I have an old box fan with a furnace filter taped to it a a filter, Zero dust in the paint and the little bit of over spray is taken away.

As far as the micro balloons go ; use the fenelic micro balloons. It is safer than the glass bead micro balloons. Glass does nasty things to your lungs !
