Hello to all
The first thing I would like to say is, as part of the insurance committee, an apology is due to Dennis for the e-mail received from the insurance chair.
Therefore on behalf of the committee I extend a sincere apology to Dennis. The reply he received was totally uncalled for but does demonstrate the temperament of MAAC at this time.
There is no insurance question in this debate. The policy states very clearly that all rules/guidelines/ recommendations must be followed to effect coverage.
This organization is at a true cross roads where we must get in writing the basic minimum standards allowable or end up like the AMA in so far as insurance coverages. It really doesn't matter whether you believe it is a safe situation, what does matter is whether the insurance company considers it a safe situation. When your claim is denied you will know.
The minimum standard field may not be compliable to your long standing club. Here is what you do. Document your field completely. This includes pictures, drawing, and safety record. Send this package to Head Office with a request for approval. Head Office will then have documentation that they have approved and coverage, with their approval, will be binding. If MAAC accepts your layout you are safe.
There is no room for debate on these questions, either you comply with the minimum standard set by or accepted by MAAC or you don't. Key Words ( set by or accepted by MAAC )
This is what the insurance chair should have told Dennis, send in the off standard field layout for approval.
I hope this helps those clubs that will be off standard, there is no need to shut down fields or not join MAAC.
REMEMBER, YOU ARE MAAC, YOU CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS, THE BOARD WORKS FOR YOU

MANDATORY FIELD LAYOUT
Chuck, thanks for the responce on this matter. It is well appreciated when committee members, chairs or zone directors take the time to provide feedback and or solutions to potential problems rather than passing the buck.
We must all take the insurance and saftey issues seriously and sometimes we just simply need direction on how to apply the rules for everyones benifits.Your responce has gone a long way to help us achieve that.
