I think I got scammed
Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
About 3 months ago I ordered an L39 kit with a Jet Cat 120 turbine from a company in britain. Their e mail is " flightline.models@btopenworld.com"
The fellow claims he shipped it it by Business Post and Parcel Line. Since it's been 3 months I think I got scammed. Does anyone on this list know how long items will take to ship from England by boat. How about the company? I e-mailed Parcel line to see if there is a way to trace the shipment but they are not returning my e mails. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Peter

The only info about shipping across the water I can share with you is when I ship to Britain. If I ship surface (boat) it has taken up to 9 weeks. Canada Post tells me the parcel will not ship unless the container is full, hence the wait. I have hit it lucky and had a parcel make it there in two weeks via boat. 3 months seems long, does parcel line have a phone number contact?

Peter, did you ask any of the US guys on RCU? Maybe they know more.
What about doing something through the credit card company? I have sent stuff surface mail to the UK, (kits) and it never took more than 4 weeks going there. I'd assume the same coming here. Hope that it works out for you..

Thanks for the info guys. The money was sent by Western Union. So I don't think it's refundable.

It might still show up... I sent some RIT dye to South Africa the least expensive way. I figured "how long could it take!" The fellow built the plane and was ready to dye the canopy and the dye had not arrived in 3 months. So I shipped another parcel of it via airmail and the postage cost dramatically more than both parcels put together including their contents. The second parcel arrived in two weeks, one day ahead of the first parcel!!!

RC_MAN, I assume you spoke with this outfit, or was it just a web purchase?
I could not find them after doing a search, if you have the address/tel, I have lots of friends in the UK, I can ask one of them if they are close to pay them a visit, or call them on your behalf. Having someone local do the follow-up is diferent than calling overseas. regards Peter |

don't know if this ever showed up or not, but I have shipped many items overseas, I have found surface to be absolutely horrid to use with larger parcels. I shipped a guitar to germany that took 5 months to arrive, and one to england that took 8 months to arrive. The one to england actually got stuck in a corner of a dock warehouse somewhere and overlooked for months on end. as a rule, I don't ship anything surface overseas unless the receiver agrees that once I ship it I hold NO responsibility at all.

Shipping mistakes
I did the same thing one time. I shipped an OS .25/fan setup to a guy in Australia but surface mail. 3 months later it FINALLY showed up. Thankfully he was not in a rush and understood. It was the cheapest way to send but for only a couple dollars more I could have sent it by airmail. I was a bit embarrased about that one!
