If you use locktite and wish to remove a bolt at a later date heat the bolt with an electric soldering iron for a minute or so then let it sit for 20 to 30 seconds before trying to remove the bolt. These directions are all guess as it is hard to pin down because of size and materials being worked on.

Re: Muffler on the loose !

I always fill the threaded hole with clear GE Silicone, then put the bolts in. Never had a fail.

Re: Muffler on the loose !

I always dress the exh. port and the muffler face with a fine file to ensure that they're flat. I clean the surfaces with carb cleaner or alcohol, use a thin smear of permatex ultra copper sealant on each gasket..... and tighten the bolts and let the sealant cure for 24 hrs.
Never had one leak or come loose....................yet. On other engines that the muffler bolts screw into the cylinder, I use ultra copper on the threads, also.

Has worked for me for years.
