Don't know what you mean by cheap. A price range would help. I would sugest a thunder tiger raptor 30 to anyone starting out. Another choice would be a century hawk sport. What ever you get you'll also need an engine, radio gear and a gyro. Get a machine that is easy to get parts for and if there's people flying around talk to them about what they suggest.

Whatever you get for an egg beater, recommend that you guys get involved with a club. Most have instructors, and can steer you the right way as to what radio to get. With a compatible radio system the instructors will be able to use a buddy cord, to aid the training process, and possibly save your craft from mishap. hope this helps.

Set aside enough for a simulator, it'll save you money in short order.

I can't suggest strongly enough that you find an instructor. They're a handful to fly even when they're set up properly, an out of trim heli with bad tracking and too much negative pitch is likely to not only cost money and grief but perhaps require stitches to repair... a word to the wise.
