I never run my engines dry (in any of my gas planes or my weedwacker, chainsaw, etc). So far no problems! Lucky? Maybe...

gasser - winter storage

I've been flying gas since late 80's. this winter for the first time I ran them out of fuel, don't ask me why. Any other year I just put them away. I do empty fuel tank though, after ever flying session as well. Never had a problem yet. I treat my chainsaw and weedwhacker type things the same and always have and never had a problem following spring.

For those interested, a photo of the storage fogging spray from Walmart I use.

I agree with Don, gas engiens are pretty hardy, my 18cc gas weedeater sits all winter in the shed and starts each spring, I give my maodel airplanes engines a bit more TLC, not sure if they need, but what the heck.
