Sent a week in Switzerland and stumbled across a club in the mountains one day....launching gliders off of 700' cliffs...very impressive!

Where do people fly gliders in boring /flat SW Ontario?

Re: Where to glide in SW Ontario

I have always wondered that too. There is the garbage hill on Ottawa st. Kitchener. Not sure if it is still useable what with the mountain bike park there. There is a cliff on Lake Ont. where Hwy #3 got washed out, and a place on Lake Huron near Zurich I think. Not sure about access to any of these. I will keep my eye out on this thread too. I can do it in my back yard but it is only 100 ft wide.

Re: Where to glide in SW Ontario

There are two glider clubs that I am aware of in general Toronto area, COGG (Central Ontario Glider Group) north of Toronto Near Beeton (west of the 400 between 88 and 89) and SOGGI (Southern Ontario Glider Group Inc.), I am not sure exactly where they fly but it is somewhere south of Hamilton. Both clubs do winch launch, electric and some DLG (Discuss launch glider). You can find both clubs on the internet, COGG at http://www.cogg.ca/ and SOGGI at http://www.soggi.ca/ .
