Built a Spa3d today. Perfect flying weather this afternoon. Fired up the engine taxied out hit the throttle yeehaw airborne. About half tank of fuel burnt off just getting a feel all of a sudden she wants to dive. Landed safely adjusted the elevator servo back to neutral, try again. This time achieved some altitude flew a circuit around the field, coming back across the field she goes into a wicked dive. I cut the throttle full up elevator and she nosed in at an estimated 30-40 mph. Dirt flew, pieces flew, my buddies all thought she was toast. We went out picked the motor, and plane up the only damage was a busted motor mount. Gee I'm out a buck for a new chunk of the wifes cutting board. These things are incredibly tough, and for the short duration I got to fly it as much fun as anything else I've flown. Well worth having your buddies giggle at you and tell you that you've finally lost it. It took almost 20 minutes to replace the damaged parts. Try that with a balsa plane!!!

ps. Always thoroughly check servos that seemingly survived a crash.
Hmm, Wonder what I can build from that shrapnel?

I had the same thing happen on about the third flight!

In my case I found the elevator horn was to small and broke ...... made it bigger and haven't had a problem since!
