More of a CRAFT Show then Hobbies.

You will only have about three or 4 shops to try and buy that stuff from and ussually thing bring ARF's and trainers... good luck but I don't like having to spend $10 or $12 addmission so I can spend $400 or $500 inside.

Good luck!

Agree with Jim 100%.

Its a waste of money and time. There are only a couple of renowned vendors like Hobby hobby, hobbywholesale, Vmar, goldscallop.
And the prices aren't any better either.

I also agree it doesn't make sense to pay admission unless
you are meeting others and turn it in to a social event
The last few times that l attended the hobby show after paying
the admission and gas to and from l didn't save much and
I felt there was a small area that interested me and the deals
were few and far between. I now prefer to support my LHS and
have built a good consumer relationship and feel l am treated
fair. Keep your LHS in business It's a pain in the *ss to
order small items by mail

I go with my family every year. Not only do all three of us fly but my wife also does all types of crafts and takes advantage of the variety.

You might not go there to buy planes, it's not really a "store" but there always seems to be a hard to find widget or gadget, servo or receiver etc etc that I end up going home with. $10 to kill 3 hours is rather cheap and as has been stated, I always seem to meet old friends there so there is a social aspect.

This year my club is working the RCM plane show area so a bunch of us will be there that weekend. Friday nite I go with my family and Saturday 10am-8pm I meet and greet the public and talk about planes all day, advertise our club and MAAC; what the heck. I pay $25 in gas, $3-4 admission for a swap meet too so I guess it's all relative

I agree with nuker(i think?). I go with the family every year if other more pressing things don't creap into the schedule(Like this saturday I'm going to RC world time share for a week with the family). For about $25 dollars it is a cheap day of entertainment. Yes I do buy a small trinket or two. I leave most of my money for the lhs's. My 4 year old son likes the car races and boat pond.

Our LHS has a "why go to the hobby show sale" the week before the show. They found it more effective, that participating at the show.

I have gone the last four years in row. For those who regularily attend, I am one of the guys flying the blimp around the entrance end of the show.
I get a free pass and have a blast flying something R/C at the same time!
I do have to agree with Jim though. Unless your interested in crafts, there not really all that much for R/C and there is not much in the way of deals. When you add up the costs: gas, entrance, etc. It does turn out expensive!

Not too much there in the airplane department for me. I went a couple years ago. The model engineers club had some nice stuff on display, steam engines. I have more fun at a swap meet.
