There is a piece of ply attached to the aft side of the firewall that the battery tray FWD end fits in to.

From top and bottom. Right, then left. A bit more clear on left pics.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Thanks David, those are very helpful. I think I have a few ideas I can explore once the basis lower section is framed up.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

I'll post some pics tomorrow, Leeann glassed most of the fuse tonight, perfect job, as usual. I really need her to do all my glassing as well!

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Leeann got the belly, sides, and nose glassed last night, in one piece, and perfect seam lines. I really need to convince her to glass all my projects!

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Looking good. I see that you've left the entire bottom area open from the landing gear brace to the firewall. Are you building one or 2 removable hatches? I have the bottom of my fuselage at that stage right now & am designing the battery tray / caddy before going further there but intend to close up the front half as in the plan. Oh & are you using a resin based product for the glass or a water based product?

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Epoxy finishing resin for all our aircraft. I've got years of experience with it, and Leeann's taken to it very quickly. We've got all the switches underneath, there's the power switch for the Rx, the landing lights, nav lights, and the charge receptacles. Also easy access to the battery compartment, under the fuel tank. One single hatch, with a small recessed open area for the switches.
