I've only used flat, and matte, haven't tried gloss Aura, we've done detail work with tole paints, they come out fine. The Americana works over oil-based paints as well, so Cdn Tire spray bomb, then the Americana, you're golden.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Cessna progressing well, with first coat of gloss white on the top of the wing, white primer going on the bottom, and the fuse is getting it's first bit of white primer as well.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

We're finished priming the underside of the wing, and have the first coat of gloss white sprayed. Fuselage has one coat of primer, tonight we'll do any minor filling, sanding, and hopefully a second coat of primer.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Leeann did such a good job of glassing, almost nil for sanding/filling. Wing had a couple little spots of pinholes, that was it. Fuse, think there might be one thin seam that needs a bit of spot and glaze, then a couple of coats of primer, sanded with 320 grit between coats, then the gloss white. I'll try to remember to pull the paint scheme she'll be spraying, it's pretty nice.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

We're making good progress on the Cessna, all priming is done. We'd previously attached the corrugated bits to the elevator, so got the flaps done, one aileron done, and second will be done tonight. Flaps, Elevator and tail cone, along with the fuselage, are getting several thin coats of gloss white. Once we've got 4-5 coats, then we'll wet sand with 400 grit, and decide from there if we're going straight to gloss clear, or a bit more white. I've installed all the servos into the servo hatches for the ailerons and flaps, so once everything is painted, I can hook everything up. Rudder, elevator and nose-gear steering servos are in, just need to install the throttle servo, then start hooking all of that up. Hopefully, we might just make it in time to show off at the Spring Hobby Show!

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

Hi Dave: don't know if you mentioned what you were going to use for power but I am going to have to say that nothing less than a Scorpion 4020 series brushless should be inside that cowl..... Tell Lee-Ann.. a great job.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

I'll also say tell her she's doing a GREAT job. Might fine workmanship there. I'll be getting back to my build in about a week or so & show the changes I've made to convert it to run an E Flite Power 90 & where I'll mount the batteries etc. In the meantime I'm framing up a 72 inch Lanc which will soon be at the wing sheeting stage & I'll be sheeting the Cessna wings at the same time.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182

I do have a photo of the aircraft paint scheme she's going with, I'll try to remember to post that tonight. Everything now is in final stages of touch-up, paint wise, prior to wet-sanding everything. I did manage to do a bit of wet-sanding on the right upper wing half this morning before work. Really makes things silky smooth, and highlights any little spots requiring a bit more work. Slow but steady, and hopefully we'll have it pretty much done prior to our Jamaican vacation 31st of March.
