Just started working on this Bud Nosen Taylorcraft, thought these were supposed to be good kits. This thing has got to be the worst kit ever put on market. Die cutting is terrible, looks like it was done with dull blades, wood is crushed as opposed to being cut. Thickness of wood that is cut does not match sizes stated on the plans. Some die cut pieces are missing and I have to make my own. Wire landing gear is of no use as it does not match the plans and as such I cannot use them and have to come up with something different.
This is the 10 foot wing span kit and it is garbage.
Anybody else have experience with this guys kits?

Re: Taylorcraft

I haven't built one but I have heard many folks say just what you are saying. These kits have been around for several decades, and they are definitely an old-school builder's kit.

Yep, die-crunching, missing parts, incorrect stick sizes. I have heard all that before.

But I have also heard that if one pushes through all the shortcomings of the kit and replaces some of the worst stuff and works around the lesser errors, they do build into a decent model.

Again, that's all hearsay but I believe it to be accurate. If you do decide to push through and built this kit, I wish you the best of luck.

Do you have much building experience?
