I think Jabba should be given an opportunity to explain what he really means...IMHO. Though his post is not up to may have been at the spur of the moment. His post also does not have anything to do with or a reflection of his Club. I think I know Jabba from BalsawoodStock 1 and if it's him...he is fun to have around.

Having said that.....I have met WB on several my flying club meeting doing a presentation...and other times in Hamilton and at the Hobby Show. He Personally signed me up at the Hobby Show when I joined this Hobby. I think we could not have had a better President with dedication, direction, vision, hard working and committed to all aspects of this Hobby. Most of all, if you are in a conversation with him, he listened to what you had to say. He was jovial and made everyone feel comfortable. All that from only meeting him 3 times.

You were a class act Wayne. A President to be proud of. What it was that made you come to your decision.....take time and heal, then go do what you like best ( I hope)

I don't know what Wayne did or didn't do for MAAC, but he showed up to one of our meetings to discuss modelling and it was impressive. Whether he was good or bad, at least he had the courage to take the position. Can't fault people that try to help.

Well guys, as most of you know, from day 1 I've made it a point not to remove any posts from the boards. Then only posts I've removed have been commercial advertising.

The reason I do this is that I feel members should be conscious that what they write is going to stay on the boards with their name atached to it....i.e. think twice about what they are about to post.

So far there has been no reason to lock this topic. Like others, if it gets out of hand, I will close it down.

I've had a few conversations with Jabba. He is a very nice person. I don't know why this post was made, but Jabba is entitled to his own opinion.

As for Mr. Bransfield resigning, I am sorry to hear that he is stepping down. I've never met the man, but anyone who takes on a position with so much work involved on a volunteer basis is ok in my book.

MAAC Prez Resignation

Like Jason, I have never met Wayne B. However, I have been on volunteer committees (local zoning, aquaculture bod, and a volunteer fire fighter). It seems the harder a person tries to do things right, the less they are wanted. Could this be the case?

I am sure that MAAC and all it's members will be the lesser for his resignation. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Wayne.

From the MAAC Website:

December 7, 2003
MAAC President Resigns
"For those that know me, my best interest was for all modellers—competitors and sport flyers alike. I am sorry I cannot continue. I have never been your President, as the board, time and time again, has proven by their silence. Their silence has been deafening. It is now up to the members to act for the betterment of MAAC, not one group or another." — Wayne Bransfield.

Wayne was and is a "Class Act" and truly has served as our President. It must be very disheartning not to get the necessary support. Good luck Wayne.

Good luck to us all…

Well its official. Wayne Bransfields note on why he is resigning is in the news section of MAAC. Apparently according to Mr. Bransfield, he has had no support from the Board. Maybe its time to start paying attention to who is being elected and what self interests this person or persons have. Interesting read

I too have had the pleasure of meeting Wayne on a few occasions. I don't know him well enough to have formed any opinion of him as a President but if first impressions are something to go by then "class act" describes the man to a tee. He strikes me as a very approachable and likeable fellow. One who dedicates a great deal of his time and effort to the betterment of the hobby. He also genuinely seems to be as nutty about model airplanes as the rest of us (which makes anyone ok in my book ).

I have also met Palmer once or twice. My impression of him was also positive. Another very approachable and likable guy. His post seems somewhat out of character. I hope that posting this news in this way was simply a lapse in judgement. A simple case of speaking (or in this case typing) before thoroughly thinking it through.

When I read this coming from him I was disappointed.

Best wishes to you Wayne :P

If you don't have time to do it right this time, how are you going to have time to do it again?

Sun Parlor RC flyers / Palmer Johnson ?

I am a member of Sun Parlor RC Flyers and don't appreciate the use of our clubs good name being used in these posts for the purpose of personal dislikes. I feel Palmer was out of line with his comment, regardless of circumstances. I will personally ask Palmer to remove our clubs name from his signiture. I feel Palmer does not represent Sun Parlor or do we support his comments.
