I know very little about why Wayne resigned and I don't care to know more.

I had the pleasure of meeting Wayne several times here in Newfoundland, and in Tillsonburg 2 years ago. From what I saw he truly enjoyed the hobby and was doing everything to promote it. He appeared to me as a fun loving guy with a lot of interesting stories to tell. I truly enjoyed spending time with him as a modeler.

I just called his home and had a chat with his wife as he was not at home. All I said was it was time to go and have fun. Don't let political BS ruin a great hobby. Local politics almost ruined it for me. I can only imagine what it's like on a national level.

I will not take any sides in the ongoing feud within MAAC. We all just have to have fun.

ronnieo: I guess we have to agree to disagree. The message left is he can't fix it. As I understand it the position doesn't even come with a vote. I have been in the position of frustration with a board and no vote available to myself. You can reach a limit where you know you cannot win and reason cannot prevail. A much louder message than handling it at an AGM is to resign and explain why. This is not treason but a sign of someone who has some strong feelings for the organization, right or wrong, and wants people to know that in his opinion things need to change.

Those other organizations external to MAAC should care less. There is still a board, an office with competent staff and an AGM coming up. Many organizations operate for periods without a president or appoint a temporary position to manage things. This is hardly the end of the world or even embarassing for MAAC. It's Canadian, eh!

then I guess........

that we have to rewrite the constitution similar to the AMA where the president has final say over the board and all issues are voted upon by the whole membership not 13 people or we will lose a president a year if this is the case in Canada as I'm hearing.

Putting Words In Peoples Mouths Again

Mark I read the resignation letter on the MAAC Web Site

"For those that know me, my best interest was for all modellers—competitors and sport flyers alike. I am sorry I cannot continue. I have never been your President, as the board, time and time again, has proven by their silence. Their silence has been deafening. It is now up to the members to act for the betterment of MAAC, not one group or another." — Wayne Bransfield.

Can you point out to us the part where he thanks those Zone Directors you speak of. I have read it several times and I just can't see the separation. If he had the support of these 7 board members as you claim isn't that a majority of the 13? Why then the claim no support from the board?

I wanted to stay out of this but, the sheer volume of mis-information is overwhelming. I'll not degrade this fine site by debating the issues (real or otherwise) here. All I can say is MAAC is your organization. If you want facts, contact your ZD, call the office and get copies of the minutes. As a member, it's your right.

Please stop jumping to conclusions based on "information" posted on a discussion forum.

Too many spin doctors waiting to obfuscate truth with half-truths.

president resigns

Well said Jim.If all of you really want correct information on this matter,go to the source as Jim has suggested.Maybe it's time to have some chats with zone directors to determing what can be improved in the structure of our organization or if it's fine as is.
No more bashing during the christmas season guys.

I recently completed a course on communicating
and guess which type was rated one of the poorest
and one that is easily misinterpreted - EMAIL!
All should choose words carefully as wounds don't
always heal. An open forum is no place to conduct personal attacks, if Mr. Bransfield has decided to step
down that's his business. Appreciate the good things
and positives, don't focus on the negatives. Nuff said.
