For my last 2 planes, a Giles 300 36 % and a Cap 232 40 %, i have been using Dubro flat hinges pinned all the way with a single piano wire instead of all the brass cotter pins. Last summer, 140 flights with my Cap and no losening, nor breaking. If a problem come, just remove the piano wire, remove the surface, repair and put it back. I just fold the end of the piano wire with a '' U '' shape and plug it in the balsa and foan, and secure with a small screw.
