anyone know of good websites for used gas engines .. have been watching 'rcc' and 'rcu' for a few days but haven't seen much .. am looking for a (slightly) used brison 4.2 .. or similar .. one that the owner only wants 10 % of its actual value .. isn't that just what everyone wants when buying ..

At 10% of its value you had better find it first otherwise its mine.

Sorry guys ......what you are looking for doesnt exist.Any unabused short service modern gasser with an electronic ignition and a good brand name is going to run you at least 75% of the new cost.
At that price plateau and with the $C at its current level I would buy new,or drop back and buy a good used G62,and live with its limitations.

In my opinion, the best place in my opinion to get a used gas engine is on the IMAA swap page:

I have bought two of my engines here, and also traded/sold two.

These guys fly mainly the larger gas engines so you dont have to wade through tons of other crap.

I have seen some AWESOME deals but you have to be fast. Sometimes guys need tomake a quick sale to fund a new project, and thats when you can snap up a deal.

Gas engines seem to last a lot longer than glow and take a lot more abuse so the chances of getting a good used one is good.

if its got a wing or two and an engine - I like it!

I'm with Andrew on this one ... you will find many big planes and the necessary components. Especially this time of year, guys are wanting to sell and move up to bigger and better/faster etc.

many thanks guys for the thoughts and info .. checked out the imaa site and it appears to be about the best around for large scale engines ..

will also check out ebay .. problem there is finding the right search criteria .. however hopefully i'll find what i need on one of the sites .. probably as kevin mcgrath said i will have to pay more than 10% of its value.. but for the right one that's ok ..

am also considering new with the thought to having it shipped in the usa close to the canada border so i can pick it up and don't get involved in broker fees, etc. ..

thanks again .. take care and have a good holiday season .. e.

try the Giant scale rc classifieds, lots of large gassers there.
I have a Quadra XL100 currently listed there.
