Just thinking if it would be a good idea for RCCanada to have just a float-seaplane forum... This is Canadian forum, so we all have had one floatplane or another....Would this be a good idea? and who do I ask?

Excellent idea since I have a Dehavilland Turbo Beaver from Unionnville still in the box patiently waiting for my retirement which will happen next March. Would like very much to install floats on that plane.

Yes Yes!!
Excellent idea. My Unionville Otter will eventually be fitted with floats, and I will need a place to access the years of combined knowledge that is floating (!) around out there. Specifically about EDO 7170 floats that the Otter sported.

One of the problems with seaplanes is the necessity of a boat for "errant models" and their retrieval. I have been planning to build a small boat for years now (cartopper or canoe), and I may have the chance this spring; THEN watch out!

We used to fly off a schoolground, and a couple of guys had flying boats that, with effort, would takeoff wet grass, and landings were no problem, wet or dry. Floats, of course, were kinda redundant.

A column would certainly help...
