Oil Remover - K2R Replacement

Merry Christmas to all:

Because the building season is now upon us, I thought that I'd pass on this info - In the past I relied on the product called K2R whenever I embarked on an R/C aircraft rebuilding project. It was great! K2R readily removed model fuel oil from fuel soaked fuselages; we all know how difficult it is to repair or recover fuel soaked balsa or ply. Well, when I returned to the hobby two years ago, after a ten year hiatus, I was dismayed to learn that K2R was no longer available. This summer I discovered a replacement product called Sprayway Spotlifter (Product Number 0600233). It works just like the old K2R and at approx $7.50 per 16 oz can is considerably less expensive. You can purchase Sprayway from an industrial supply company called FASTENAL. Because it is considered a hazardous product, I was unable to buy individual cans and instead had to order a full case of 12 cans ($89.62). However, there were quite a few members in my club (NIPMAC, North Bay) who wanted some, so the larger quantity wasn't a problem. If you need this type of product, give it a try - It works!. You may have a Fastenal distributer in your local, but, if not, the national distributer address is at the bottom of this post.

Wishing you and yours an enjoyable and safe holiday season,

Peter Merkel
