Right from the instruction pages

If for some reason you have to disassemble your engine, please follow these important steps on reassembling the cam gear box.

1. Turn the drive washer so the piston is at top dead center. This can be accoomplished by aligning the "l" mark on the drive washer to the top of the mold line on the engine front case.

2. When re-installing the cam gear, the side with the point mark should be facing the opening of the cam gear box. Note that it should also be mounted with the point mark located towards the top of the engine just below the cam followers.

In other words piston at top dead center and cam timing mark in line with the pushrod tubes.

Hope this helps

There should be a dot on the back of the crankshaft and on one side of the cam gear.

Correct timing is set when the dot on the crank is pointing to 6:00, then the cam gear should have its dot between 12:00 and 12:30.

If the crank does not have a dot, then set the motor to TDC and align the cam for 12:00-12:30.

Thats it and applies to every YS 4-stroke made.

Valves should be gapped between 0.000"-0.002" cold with the engine at TDC
