I'd pick any of the Schneider Cup race planes from the 1920's and early 1930's. They are sleek and really fast for float planes. The Supermarine 6B set a world speed record of 407.5 miles per hour in 1931. 407 mph with floats hanging down in the wind! Pretty amazing considering the year.

...especially considering the fastest land plane that year was the GeeBee Z and it broke up doing 281.9 mph in Dec 1931......
