Terry, since I have to redraw my own anyway (not fair to copy and scale them, besides the original has WAY too much structure for my little one) I thank you but right now, I dont think so.

BUT.... if this one goes well, perhaps I can get a copy of the bigger one for a future project? It does look so sweet....

Andrew

Sure Andrew. I've had the plans for years and still intend to build from them so if you ever need a copy let me know.

I want to be close to outline scale, with a true rounded fuse and such, but I guess it is pretty much "schoolyard" or "stand way off" scale by all accounts, seeing as I am not detailing the covering. But I want it to look like the plane best I can.

Yes, I guess old age, marriage and such has caught up to me and I am going to sell my sport planes and go scale like you "older" more "mature" guys... :P
Thanks Nuker, its a start!
I think I just had a stroke ...

Don't believe him Frank. The other day Andrew told me he was selling all his big planes and trailer and building only 1/2A stuff.

You mean it's not built yet???

Seriously though, what is the next step? If the chord isn't constant how do you figure out where to place the ribs and the size of each? What about the fuse shape, where to put formers etc etc?

Darn it, you've got me curious now

Bob

Nuker,
The wing IS constant chord, up to the angled part between the nacelle and the fuse. The wing is also highly dihedral'd (7 degrees per wing!) so its like an astrohog! SHould be really easy to fly.

The wing is a no brainer, and I am deviating from the scale semi symmetrical wing by going to a flat bottom, since I want this to be a nice, scale like plane and not for any aerobatics. Need the maximum lift possible.

The fuse, well, It too is a boxy type thing with rounded off corners. Remember this isnt true scale, but 1/2A sport scale, it will look like the plane and have the scale outlines, but I am not going to try and get the fuse profiles 100% on. I have to have this built and test flown in 3 months for the contest.

I am going to have some of the parts vacu-formed, mainly the nacelle tops/cowlings and maybe the canopy/windscreen.

Just started so I have lots of descisions to make....

I have been working on the Seneca for a few weeks so far. I have finished making the engines, and they are running fine. The wing is done, finished it this weekend.

I hope to start the fuse soon...

This is a shot of the custom .040 twin engine (one of two) without the carb yet...
