This 8 minute video was on CBC National on Tuesday, October 13th.

Guy in Quebec, Catalin Alexander Duru, put 8 brushless electric motors, powered by lipo batteries (they sure look like Turnigy), generating 40 horsepower, with pusher props in a platform to get him up about 6 feet, covering about 900 feet in a minute and a half.

What I found most interesting is that he lands in water - and appears to take off from the shallows as well - which I would have thought to be hostile to the motors, especially sand grit.

Catalin deserves much, much credit. This is a sign of things to come.
Great job.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.

Very cool. I wish I were young enough to be able to take the falls from six feet, and not break something.
