Pros and Cons please

I was into RC cars/trucks back in the 80's and early 90's, they were all electrics.
Recently I thought I might like another truck, no serious racing just hacking around. I've visited a couple of strores only to find the world has changed big time in 12 years. It seems gas has become way more popular and names I associated with pre-built Zellers/Walmart type products now make quality products, e.g. Traxxas

So can someone spell out the pros and cons between owning gas or electric?

I havnt been into r/c cars for too long and have a POS car i got off the net but this is how I see it.

Gas: Pros: I think that just the fact of using fuel is a pro cause you just refill the tank and your good to go.

Cons: Tuning the engine, but really not a big deal.

Electric: Pros: Cleaner and quiet if thats what you want.

Cons: Expensive batteries/chargers.

As for power, I have seen some electric stadium trucks move as fast if not faster than a nitro one.

Thats all i could think of...

Pros: You can play aslong as you want all day and w/e
cons: Engines may be a pain even thought i have not had a car engine be bad to be.
Neiutral: tuning is easy ot much to it

Pros: Cheaper in the long run no problems with engines no tuning
Cons:You have to charge and then by that time you might not wanna play with your truck

Thanks guys, I'm going to start with an electric truck and now have to decide which one.
I remember from the past that lots of batteries and a good charger were the secret.

Electrics are not necessarily cheaper than nitro but they are clean and start every time. The secret to running well is to keep everything clean. Buy decent 3300 NiMH battery packs and buy a good charger from the start.

It really is preferance, I like RC models that mimic the real thing.

Nitro all the way ! I race 1/8th offroad and 1/8th onroad cars and these have all the excitment anyone would want ! I also race the 1/18th micro cars and these are super fun and have the same "feel" as a nitro car less the sound and smell.
I just can`t wait for the outdoor season to start though !

Just give er !
