Q: Y conector and servos in wing

I have 2 servos mounted in my Extra. Each are mounted in the wing, close to the ailerons, connected by a long extension that runs through the wing to a Y connector, to my receiver.

I have always wondered if I should do something special with the wiring as the length of wire (each servo is about 2.5 feet from the center of the wing)? Should I shield the wiring from the servo to the center of the wing? I have heard guys say having that much open wire can cause interference and/or servo jitter. I read on a site a fellow put heavier gauge servo wire in his plane and it fixed his problem. I haven't seen that for sale in the local hobby shop, maybe he made his own?

My goal is to know that even though I have long extensions from my Rx to my servo, I know that there won't be any interference or jitter in the servo.

I've built a number of large planes with leads at least that long and have never had to do anything special for shielding or whatever.

Just a few threads under yours there was a whole discussion about servo leads with some good info on making long servo extentions.

I use leads much longer than that all the time with two servos plugged in to two channels on the RX. Also Ys and reversing Ys with no problemsAll of these are on gas powered models which are more likely to cause interference than glow engines.......I dont think you have anything to worry about......
