Thanks Mervin I'd like to see them. Another question has anyone ever made an RC version of an old sailing ship?

Maybe a bit small, but it should be okay to fiddle around on.
I can not wait to get mine in the water. Our winter has not been a winter with warm temps, rain and all the snow is melted. There is even open water in parts that should be solid ice you could drive on.
Think I will order a RC power Tug boat from Hobby King to use as a rescue boat. As I know I will flip it a few times for sure

That is the same boat I got as a gift but the sails are different. The videos on You Tube I have watched several times on this exact boat.
Spring can't get here quick enough

About twenty years back and after fixing a few troublesome problems with its static model status I refinished and keel weighted the hull of one of Billings "Bluenose" static kits thereby leak proofing it so it would actually sail. That little schooner turned out to be one fast ship, much to the chagrin of other sailors at that pond, unfortunately it was just a free sailing model not rc controlled. However, I don't see why you couldn't build in controls.

The main problem was that the mahogany planks were glued to the hull forms with non waterproof glue and started popping off, hence the rebuild using epoxy.

Re: sailboat just looking

I just got back from visiting Norm so here are some shots of his scratch builds from plans Jim. These ones were built a while ago and have been sailed.

That's strange! They are the right side up in my files!

Re: sailboat just looking

The one with 3 sails is just completed a we are hoping for a nice day soon to try it out. The last boat in the one on the bench now. Norm is presently fitting the sails.

Weird! The last two came through right side up!
