LEO engines -- anyone heard of them?

Has anyone had personal experience (or have well substantiated data) on LEO engines? These are being marketed by Lorne Mackie of Calgary. They are supposed to be low cost, high quality copies of the OS FX series, in .46 & .61 sizes. The prices are $99.99 (GST incl) for the .46, & $139.99 (GST incl) for the .61.

Leo Engines

Hi, re- your engine enquiry "Leo" brand. About four seasons ago, I bought a second hand Leo .46. It had had at least two gallon of fuel through it when I bought it ???> I used it constantly, for two more seasons, then sold it along with a trainer plane. It went for another seasons, and it was then sold again. Not bad for an cheap-ish engine.?. I did not have any problems at all, and I did not hear any complaints from anyone else. I also know of two other Modelers who used them, they too say it was ok .
I always maintain, that you get what you pay for, and in this case, I think I got good value for the money. I would not hesitate in buying another one, if I need one that size. By the way, I believe it is still around and going ok ??.
This of course is just one,( my ) opinion, for what it's worth. Hope it helps. Good luck. "D.B"

My dad has used Leo engines before and has had nothing but good things to say about them. If you'd like his input on them, e-mail him at jim@bissonmufflers.com and mention that you were asking here on rc canada.com and that I directed you to contact him. Cheers
