1/3 Cub Tundra Tires

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
HI all,

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a 8x2.5 inch tire and wheel combination that would be suitable for a 1/3 Super Cub. I would like to have a Tundra tire on mine to match the full scale aircraft I am following.
I have looked at wheel barrow and hand truck wheels but they don't have a small enough rim, not to mention the weight. Any help or ideas??????

1/3 Tundra Tires

I thought about that but they don't have the right shape. Thanks for the thought though.

Apparently the real cubs used drag racing slicks..I don't know if that can be reproduced in model scale......

I was curious with this one and looked around.

8" wheels you can get at Princess Auto or equiv; basically hollowed out plastic wheels with a 3/8" axel hole. They don't really have the "tundra" look but are reasonable light.

We checked the catalogues at my LHS and couldn't find tundra tires; especially in that size. One recommendation was to look at Trexlar wheels (inflatable wheels on a wooden rim). They have, I believe up to 6 inches and though smaller than what you mentioned, when inflated the appear quite large and are very similar ot tundra type tires. Just check out a photo of a Lazy Bee; these are those cartoon looking balloon tires.

Just some ideas

Tundra Tire look

Just a wierd idea, but what about using an inner tube from TSC around the 8" dia. when inflated. You may be lucky with using a model rim, Dubro etc.
