Im running 6s 3300Mah 30c and I get 5 minutes of light 3D on 2500 RPM with the 500MX.

So I think with you a 3300 would do a pretty decent flight.

Re: How can I increase battery life on my 500

The lower the head speed the longer the flights. A good rule of thumb is that a 10% reduction in head speed requires about 35% less power! and vise versa.

Of course, because lift is a combination of rotor speed and pitch. A lower head speed requires more pitch to generate the same lift then a higher one. As we are doing work (lifting a weight for a period of time) we are lifting the same weight at these different head speeds so we are more concerned with the additional drag of the rotor head.

As the drag increases much more with rotor speed then it does with pitch angle, you gain more flight time with lower head speeds and higher pitch angles.

That said, if you want to use the 80% rule, then 80% consumption of your 2250 mah packs would be 1800 mah. As you said that you only put back, 1300 mah after a 4 1/2 minute flight, then you are only using 58% of your battery's capacity. If all cells are working as advertised on your 45C packs, then you should be able to easily geta bit over a 6 minute flight with those packs.
