I have had this kit now for close to 30 years now, though it was time to get back in the hobby. I started this about a month and a half ago, I am retired so I can spend all my time on this model. This is what I have done so far.

Re: Sig RC26 Clipped Wing Cub

Very nice looking build. When I was young I watched a fellow fly the clipped wing cub from Sig for several years. It still holds fond memories with me and I have always wanted to build the 1/6 scale. I did build the 1/4 scale clipped wing and it was a great plane to fly. Any ideas on what you are using for finish, Sig coveral maybe ?

Thanks for the compliments Dennis. I am still not sure on what I will be using for finish yet. I was thinking of maybe using Hangar 9's Ultracote. I was thinking of doing the Clipped Wing Cub design scheme but using white and purple, purple happens to be my wife's favorite color, and I'm sure there won't be many in that color. It has been over 30 years since my last model plane and that was the Sig Kadet MkII. I believe I had used Monokote on that one.

Nice looking build there Mike. The itch never goes away does it. I took a 20 year break from helicopters before coming back 3 years ago.

Re: Sig RC26 Clipped Wing Cub

Our club's Instructor had a 'Thing' for Cubs...

He would always make 'Clipped Wing' versions and then overpower them... by a lot!

Then! he would make them DANCE!
... as the original designer never imagined!

A Cub is like a child, it can be may things... it is up to you to know what it can truly be...

Re: Sig RC26 Clipped Wing Cub

Thanks for all the comments guys. One thing I have found being away from the hobby for 30 years, I have way more patience than I had, lol. I am going to be using a JBA 39 engine in this plane, I still have the radio installation to do, just waiting till I get the engine mounted so I can hopefully balance the plane with the radio. These things are way smaller then I remember.

Re: Sig RC26 Clipped Wing Cub

Really looks good . Just a thought ,now would be a good time to put in rear mounting blocks in the event you ever want to mount floats . Again just a thought .

Thanks for the input John, I will look into where the float blocks are positioned, might as well have them in there, even if I don't use them. I am still not sure on what I will cover the plane with yet. It has been 30 years since I have been in the hobby, lots has changed that's for sure.
