I suggest you extoll the vertues of these planes on your Great Lakes Challenge post instead of all this blather.
What a complete waste of time.

I, for one will not even read any more of your posts/replies IcEagle, nevermind replying to them. It will be like you are not here. That will be nice.

Ignore her and she will go elsewhere.

I feel beter now,

Dave, whether you like Ice-Eagles questions or not, the issue remains that you have restricted the rules to "Fighters that flew combat in WWII"

The rule (MAAC or RCCA) in fact says
3.1 The model must be a 1/12 scale replica of a Pursuit, Fighter or Attack aircraft produced or in service between 1935 and 1955.
For the purpose of this contest, an aircraft shall be considered a Pursuit, Fighter or Attack aircraft if its missions routinely involved, or its designer intended any of the following:
a) interception of enemy aircraft,
b) high speed ground or sea attack,
c) dogfighting,
d) long and short range escort.
The aircraft must have been originally designed to have had onboard guns installed. Aircraft that had guns mounted for defensive purposes only shall not qualify as Pursuit, Fighter or Attack aircraft.
All of the aircraft (even the Battle) you have banned meet this rule, have been deemed legal at US events and flew at the biggest one of all - the NATS in 2003.
Nothing in the rules says they must have actually engaged in combat! ("....produced or in service...." ".....missions routinely involved, or its designer intended.......")
So, as an observation, you do appear to be limiting your meet to the planes that you and your local pilots choose to fly. This does seem to render it a non-MAAC event as I do believe, as a CD, you have signed the form that says you will abide by all MAAC rules.
Bottom line, I'm not asking you to change it but maybe help you understand what all the fuss is about.

In my opinion, the fairey battle would not qualify because it was designed to be a light bomber.
It would appear the a17 meets the letter of the rules. It does seem strange that a plane that never saw combat in WWII would qualify for scale combat. Hmmm.
I am not sure about the KI's.
