Trex 450 DFCwith 3GX MRS Antenna?

H iGuys

I have one question about my setup.
The manual for the 3GX MRS says : Antenna to face the front
of the Helicopter.
The Heli came RTF with the Antenna coming out of the 3GX MRS forward ,
but where bent back on the side of the reciver and pointing towards the tail?

Witch way is right?? All Videos from Align show the Antenna coming out
towards the tail. Manual even says that the gyro is confused if you change the direction of the Antenna.

The manual says not to bent the Antennas?
Please Help me on this one. It is my first Helicopter , doesnt make it easier to learn if you have Problems like this

Regards

Alfons Conzen

Re: Trex 450 DFCwith 3GX MRS Antenna?

I really dont think it makes a difference, as long as there is a clear line from your TX to your antenna.

For example, you dont want the antenna sitting on top of the Lipo because the Lipo acts as a shield, putting the antenna "in the shadow" of of the battery and causing you to lose reception.

In your case, its hard to say without pictures. Generally, as long as the antenna is clear of any metallic obstruction (this includes the motor and ESC as well as the battery), then you should be OK

Also note that Carbon Fiber bodies also act like metal shielding. Most people get around that by using a second satellite RX so that at least one of the antennas is getting a clean signal from the TX no matter what acrobatics the heli is doing. You can still use a single RX antenna with a CabonFiber frame, you just have to be mindful of the antenna placement.

Post pics if you can. that would help a lot.

Hi Max

Thank you for your quick reply. I tried both ways, it makes no difference, you where right.
But info like this is confusing when you learn to fly Helicopter.
Also , almost everything is Carbon on the Align Helicopters.
All good now , flying is good.
